Rashad began his journey as an IT graduate in the UK. Around 2014, he decided to come back to Sri Lanka while continuing to work for a UK company. Later on, Rashad joined PickMe, a popular ride-hailing app in the island nation, followed by notable stints at other tech companies. But then Covid-19 struck and by 2020, many companies around the world began restructuring their processes. As such, Rashad ventured for better opportunities. Enter Swivel Tech.

“I liked Swivel’s approach from the get-go. Even in the interview stage, my interviewers were very transparent and communication was very straightforward,” comments Rashad.

With years of experience under his belt, Rashad joined Swivel Tech as a .NET Automation Engineer to work with VendorPanel. Although he was well versed in .NET framework, VendorPanel opted for NodeJS instead. At the time, the client suggested that Rashad test things out with languages familiar to him, along with NodeJS. “I even spoke to Romani about it since I wasn’t familiar with the framework. She basically told me to do the framework in three different languages, Java, .NET and NodeJS, in three days.” Eventually, it was clear to Rashad that NodeJS was indeed the better choice.

“Of course, the exposure matters. But for me, it’s all about having the right work culture.”

Over the months that followed, Rashad’s proactiveness and his work ethic has managed to contribute to fostering a strong bond not only with the clients Swivel works with, but also among the team members within the company itself.

Rashad passionately talks about how being a part of Swivel Tech and the community aspect has been a welcome experience for him. “I understood that this was something different and it’s not the kind of culture I’m used to before.” Particularly amidst a global pandemic and constant lockdowns can make the work environment more challenging. “Constantly working from home looking at a computer screen can get stressful and depressing. But I’ve genuinely enjoyed all the virtual interactions we’ve been having within the Swivel teams. Thanks Swivel.”
